a human mission to mars have always been
a thing we wanted
unfortunatly this thing still seems out of reach
like many things in space travel
however it hadnt stopped scientists back in the day
to create ambitious plans for the red planet
the first plan is the one by werhner von braun
a nazi scientist turned into an amercian
in 1948 he created a sci fi story called the mars project
which was the first time someone
created a scientifically plausible idea for a mars mission
in the book a fleet of 10 ships were assembled
in earth's orbit next to an orbiting space station
that can house between 50 to 100 people
parts for the ships was carried using the ferry rocket
a massive 3 stage partially reusable rocket
after the assembly was complete 80 man would take
off to mars once in mars orbit
gliders would detach from the main ships and will carry
crew to the red planet where they will find
lush green vegetation and ancient canals of running water
what did you expect this was written in the 40s
now jumping a bit to the early 60s
and soviet rocket scientist sergei korolev
had proposed a plan for a soviet flyby of mars
this plan was called TMK-1
the plan was to use the N1 rocket to assemble
an interplanetary spacecraft called mavr
which stands for mars and venus
this is because the spacecraft would use gravity assist
from venus to get to mars
