von braun's original proposal

the von braun wheel was first proposed
in 1952 by werhner von braun to create a massive
wheel space station low earth orbit
and will be resupplied by the space shuttle
which was in development at the time

olympus station (circa:1977)

eventually in 1971 nasa and the sda (space development agency)
began working on a giant wheel shaped space station
in leo called olympus station olympus was built out shuttle
external tanks and can house around 50 perosonall
the station was used both as a space hotel and a research
center for long duration spin gravity many other external tank
stations were built during this time however due to
space menufacturing and constructing matures in the 1970s and 80s
this allowed for more ambitious spin gravity habitats to be built
