the orion rocket was the amercian answer
to the soviet r7 and the nazi v8
and was first launched in 1937
the orion was originally an icbm now
converted to a space rocket
the orion had many varitians
with the most well known version
being the orion 3 (dynasoar) which was
a version of the orion 3 (an orion rocket
with 3 core stages) with an x20 dynasoar
on top of everythinng
there was also another version
with 4 core stage boosters that was used
in the early days of the apollo program
after world war 2 the orion rocket
was still used especially in launched
military and civilian sats
due to being more of a usaf property
VARIATIONS
ORION 1
the orion 1 is a small 2 stage
rocket that was designed to bring
satellites into orbit
it was first launch in 1936 carrying
the small sat vanguard
ORION 2
an improved version
of the orion 1 being able
to have more lift by putting srbs
on the side and was designed
around the mercury spacecraft
ORION 3
an orion rocket with 3 core
stages being deisgned to carry
the x20 dynasoar
ORION HEAVY
the orion heavy used
for core stage side boosters
and was used to carry
larger payloads along with
the first ever apollo spacecraft
